Dynamic Language Learning Progressions (DLLPs)
The ASSETS Consortium is pleased to be working with UCLA researchers Alison Bailey, Margaret Heritage, and postdoctoral fellow Kimberly Kelly to develop language learning progressions that encompass the language development of students Pre-K through Grade 12 for a range of academic language functions needed for success in school.
Alison Bailey notes, “DLLPs build our knowledge of where a student is placed along a developmental trajectory, why they are so placed, and what further skills the student may need to collectively inform a teacher’s instructional response to advance language learning." The language learning progressions will inform the ASSETS Consortium’s assessments and will play a key role in the development of formative assessment tools and professional development materials.
